Thanks for circulating AESA Meeting Notes. I read with interest Note no. 41 - NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON DOUBLING FARMERS INCOME BY 2022 for obvious reasons. Well, the papers presented and discussed were interesting and informative, however, most aspects were those that one reads / listens to in academic discussions. I was disappointed not to find a paper based on actual (hands on) experience with increasing farmers net income (may be to the level of 1.5 times if not 2 times) and incorporating farmers perceptions in this regard. In case you have or can lay hands on such report / paper please mail me a copy
This meeting note reflects very well on the workshop in one of the most talked about topics-doubling farmers income in the policy circles in India currently. Finding ways & means to double farmers income is one of the biggest challenges for the government. The galaxy of speakers well known for their expertise on the topics they spoke on adds value to this workshop, which is often a difficult task. The organizers deserve compliments for organizing such an important workshop with eminent speakers. Personally I am happy that the extensions role has been given due importance, which is generally sidelined when similar workshops are organized in non extension related institutions. Appreciably some speakers have recognized the clear need for agribusiness entrepreneurship at the level of producers including the role of Producer organizations. We all know as also the authors of this meeting note has rightly mentioned that doubling farmers income in a period of 6-7 years is a difficult task as it would take an increase in agricultural growth by around 12%. I believe this is a punch line saying to achieve this target; national institutions need to move beyond discussion and get into serious action with identification of their own action points based on organizational mandate to achieve the success intended by organizing workshops and training programs. Congratulations MANAGE, AESA & the authors of this meeting note to bring to light the issues concerned with the DOUBLING OF FARMERS INCOME in a best possible manner
I am regularly reading all the policy notes and conference info from AESA. The notes on doubling farmers income by 2020 is worthy and useful for all the stakeholders of agriculture. Thanks very much for sharing
